Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance in West Hollywood, CA

West Hollywood or WeHo as it is known locally is a city in Los Angeles County, CA. It was incorporated in 1984 and is home to the Sunset Strip. The roots of West Hollywood can be traced back to the 18th century when the area was colonized by Portuguese explorers on behalf of Spain. The area was already inhabited by the Tongva Indian tribe, but the tribe’s people were ravaged by the diseases carried by the European settlers.

By 1780, the area we now know as the “Sunset Strip” was established as a major road connecting the ranches and Pueblo de Los Angeles with the Pacific Ocean. The La Brea tar pits were also a valuable resource as the tar was used for waterproofing and burning for fuel.

For many years, the land in the area was owned by many people, and it was informally recognized as West Hollywood, despite remaining under Los Angeles governance. The area enjoyed a boom in the 1920s when gambling was illegal in Los Angeles, but legal in the county. Nightclubs, casinos, and bars were built along Sunset Boulevard, and people with movie making connections were attracted to the area. While the extravagant clubs did fall out of favor, the Sunset Strip continued to be an attraction for tourists.

The discontinuation of rent controls in Los Angeles County prompted many residents to vote to incorporate West Hollywood as a city and then adopted strong rent control measures to protect the dense population of renters.
