This is a cushion that wraps around the compressor inside the cabinet to dampen the sound. It is possible for a sound blanket to reduce the sound level by up to 40 percent. It is simple to install, but if you really need to replace the compressor, a sound blanket will just be a waste of your money.
Some people find that fencing is a good solution when the air conditioner causes noise at a level that is annoying to outside areas and neighboring homes. Overlap boards for maximum sound control. Make sure that the fence is at least three feet from the unit to ensure adequate airflow.
